Die Operator (CNC Lathe and Mill Operator)

Reports to: Die Department Manager

Location: 15309 Baldwin Street Extension Meadville, PA

Shifts: 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift

POSITION SUMMARY AND KEY OBJECTIVES:

Responsible to learn how to operate CNC machines safely, efficiently and effectively to meet quality and customer requirements. Have the ability to identify quality issues and adjust the machines accordingly to ensure low scrap volume. Able to safely perform the job with minimal supervision.

MAJOR DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely and efficiently operate CNC lathe and/or mill
• Productivity / quality / continuous improvement
• Basic trouble shooting
• Read / understand blueprints
• Verify gauges
• Offsets – wear / geometry / cutter comp
• Knowledge of quality standards
• Familiar with IATF
• Verify production / disposition
• Housekeeping / safety
• Follow policies / procedures
• Follow work instructions / procedures
• Follow 5S checklist procedures
• Record daily production / scrap
• Ability to take notes for future reference
• Safely operate a fork truck
• Participate in best practices
• Ability to correctly inspect tooling
• Familiar with environmental standards
• Operate as a team player, working and communicating well with others while promoting team work throughout the shop
• Strive for a quality goal
  • External customer – Zero defects
  • Internal customer – less than 1%

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED
• Internal candidates, level 3 machine operator or above
• External candidates, 5 years machining / milling experience
• Technical degree / certificate for machining preferred
• High degree of dependability required
