Design Engineer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Location: 15309 Baldwin Street Extension Meadville, PA

Shifts: 1st Shift

POSITION SUMMARY AND KEY OBJECTIVES:

The Design Engineer directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of the implementation of equipment in the Cambridge Springs and Meadville Facility. In addition, the Design Engineer researches and develops core technologies to sustain or improve a competitive lead in tooling design and life span to improve uptime.

MAJOR DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and build tooling, gauging, and equipment.
  • Develop equipment layouts.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Design support tooling for equipment.
  • Work with Controls Engineer on the control design requirements.
  • Participate in the FMEA team for new equipment.
  • Keeps up to date with the latest manufacturing techniques and drawing standards
  • Responsible for checking and validating Engineers designs and drawings where required.
  • Researches and develops core technologies to sustain or improve a competitive lead in tooling design and life span to improve uptime.
  • Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production process.
  • Works in conjunction with Operations to develop and implement new machinery, processes, and automation.
  • Responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.
  • Identifies, quantifies, and implements tools, methods, processes and equipment, which improve the quality, reliability and productivity of tooling and design.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • Knowledge of the following software is required: Solid Works, Anvil 1000 2D drawing, Qform, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to plan, schedule coordinate and problem solve effectively.
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Understanding and extensive knowledge of Forging and Machining.
  • Ability to analyze components and assemblies for static and fatigue strength to meet design goals.
  • Project leadership experience.
