A Different Kind Of Forging Company
What makes the three businesses of the MFC Group - Meadville Forging, Virginia
Forge and Carolina Forge - unique within the industry? And how do
these distinctions translate into meaningful advantages for
customers? Here are some of the criteria we believe matter
most to those we serve.
Total Capabilities
We're unique in our capabilities:
engineering and design, die-making, forging, heat
treating and machining. With in-house services from start
to finish, we can meet demanding schedules and oversee
all development and production while controlling
costs.
Technology Leader
In the industry, we have a reputation
for innovation: as one of the few forgers to use pulse-plasma
ion-nitriding to increase die life; as a pioneer in the use
of robotics in machining; as developer of a vertical
press considered to be the most advanced, highly
automated of its kind.
Quality
Doing it right the first time is our philosophy. Spectrometry on all shipments of raw steel
ensures that steel chemistry meets our production requirements.
Positive heat control monitors billet temperature before forging
and rejects those above and below the right temperature.
Statistical process control charts critical part characteristics
throughout production.
Financial Success
From a small hammer shop founded in the 1940s, MFC Group has grown to become one of the most diverse forging operations in the country. We are solid financially and well-positioned to make continued investments in the company. Steady sales growth reflects sustained customer confidence in our ability to deliver over the long term.
Cost Consciousness
Controlling our bottom line is one of
the best things we can do for customers. It's why we've involved
every single member of the MFC team in cost-cutting activities
in recent years. Among the steps we've taken: reorganizing
shifts to minimize the use of electricity during peak hours,
and organizing teams whose efforts have brought significant
reductions in scrap and set-up time.
Customer Service
At MFC, it's everyone's responsibility
to listen and respond quickly to customer wants and needs. Fast prototyping and flexible
scheduling are just two examples of our commitment to customer
service beyond the norm. We work closely with our customers
to continuously improve our product and service. We combine
our improvement efforts with customer programs to ensure the
best possible results.
