Heat Treating
By providing heat treating services in-house, MFC maintains
greater control of the heat treating process. We can also
respond more rapidly to the delivery requirements of customers.
Our batch furnaces have oil quench capabilities. On both
carbon and alloy-steel forgings, we can perform normalizing,
annealing, quenching and tempering, and carburizing processes.
To minimize scale formation, all heat treating of forged parts
takes place in an endothermic atmosphere.
To harden the surface of forging dies, we use pulse-plasma
ion-nitriding. We were the first forger in the country to
use this process. Developed in Europe, it increases forging
die life by as much as 300% for longer production runs with
fewer die changes.
