Die Manufacturing
At MFC, we make all of our own dies, so we can maintain maximum
control over quality, lead time and costs. At our Cambridge
Springs facility, computer-controlled machining produces dies
that, in turn, create accurate, repeatable forgings time after
time.
Automated die-making capabilities allow an operator to center
up a block, turn on the milling system and leave it to produce
the die unattended. We complement our mills with CNC electrical
discharge machining (EDM) to ensure fast, economical production
of dies. To harden die surface and extend forging life, we
use pulse-plasma ion-nitriding on many of our forging dies.
